COVID-19 UPDATE 6.30.2020

As many of you are aware, the city of Jacksonville issued a mandate requiring face coverings to be worn indoors, and outdoors when physical distancing is not possible, effective yesterday at 5pm. Fleet Landing has required team members and vendors to wear face coverings prior to this mandate and had been encouraging Residents to wear face coverings when physical distancing is not possible.  As a result of the new mandate, Fleet Landing is now requiring that Residents wear masks while indoors and also outdoors when physical distancing is not feasible.

Last week, we shared that 2 Residents in Derfer Pavilion tested positive for the coronavirus.  Derfer Pavilion Residents and their responsible parties were notified of the positive results.  Neither Resident has experienced signs or symptoms of illness.  They have not had contact with one another, or the team member who tested positive the week prior.  Per the regulation of the health department, these Residents have been transferred to North Florida’s designated COVID facility.  Once they receive two negative tests separated by a 48-hour period, they will be cleared to return to Fleet Landing, per CDC guidelines.  The employee who tested positive on June 15th continues to self-isolate at home and is not experiencing signs or symptoms of the coronavirus at this time.  Fortunately, there are no Residents or team members showing signs or symptoms of the coronavirus at this time.

Fleet Landing began our testing initiatives in April.  Since that time, 1,683 Resident and team member tests have been administered, of which we have had 7 positive results (3 Resident results, 4 team member results).  This equates to a positive rate of less than .42%.  For comparison purposes only, the State of Florida has a 7.8% positive rate, and Duval county has a 5.9% positive rate.*  Though we are always disappointed with any positive test result, we are pleased that our community compares favorably to these benchmarks.  Fleet Landing’s testing initiatives will expand this week to include all team members in Leeward Manor and Nancy House, in addition to the routine testing we have been administering to Derfer Pavilion team members.

As Florida is seeing an increased number of COVID-19 cases, we will remain diligent in taking the necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with the pandemic. The current trends reinforce the importance of precautions we can all take including practicing good hand hygiene, practicing social distancing, and wearing a face covering when social distancing is not possible.  Please visit www.CDC.gov for the latest guidance.
